How long does an evaluation take to complete?
There are several steps involved in obtaining an immigration psychological evaluation, which is described in the next question. In general, it takes between 2-3 weeks to complete an evaluation. Please keep in mind, this is also dependent on multiple factors, if your evaluation is needed by a certain time or immediately, contact us immediately, we will work with you to meet your goals.
What is the process?
The immigration evaluation process requires 2 visits (1.5 hours each) and is as follows:
  • Dr. Matthew Diner, PhD, LCSW will consult with your attorney as well as other pertinent sources and review medical, mental health, legal, and academic records.
  • Information gathered is compiled into a detailed report (15-25 pages) which usually requires 2.5 weeks for completion. If you are need of a faster turnaround, we can expedite your evaluation for additional fee.
  • The final comprehensive evaluation includes:
    • A review of personal, family and background information
    • A review of medical/psychiatric conditions and medications.
    • The current status of the individual assessed
    • Hardship factors
    • The results of a mental status examination and scales
    • A DSM-V diagnosis
    • A summary
    • Recommendations.
    • A review of scientific findings related to each case (i.e., effects of children being separated from their father or mother, etc.)
WHAT IS THE COST OF AN IMMIGRATION EVALUATION?
We charge a flat rate based on the type of case, this includes analysis of validated assessments, communication with collateral sources, review of pertinent documentation, the evaluation itself, the final report and mailing fees.
If the evaluation requires in-person assessment, live court testimony, or use of a translator, additional fees will apply.
